I've been working on Formula 1 and especially on Formula 1 model cars for 45 years. Therefore it's high time to share my knowledge. And to make public the diversity of the manufacturer worldwide. I started my collection in the Seventies. When modelcars were handled as toys. And for little money Dinky Toys from the Fifties could be bought at almost every flea market. The term «collector model» was not yet born. A few manufacturers of «white metal kits» had an idea in which direction the development could lead to. But their resources were modest. The implementation of making hand-made models at an industrial price was only achieved at the end of the Eighties, beginning of the Nineties. Both collection topics, whether toys or collector models, have their own charm. And I have devoted myself intensively to both for the last few decades. On this page both should be described in detail.

Because Formula 1 was started in Great Britain and also most of the first modelcars were produced in the UK, I decided to start f1modelcars.com in English and German. But be lenient: English is not my first language. There might be mistakes. But I hope it is understandable and I am always open for improvements. The goal with f1modelcars.com is to build a kind of «Wikipedia for Formula 1 model cars». This will need time. And also your help. That is why I am glad about input. Especially in the chapter MANUFACTURER. This is sorted by countries and/or continents and it will be constantly extended. The goal is to present all manufacturers of Formula 1 model cars. From A like Anguplas to Z like Zylmex.

The second submenu is called NEW ITEMS. There you will find some of the latest Formula 1 modelcars; mainly Minichamps and Spark. The third submenu is called BLOGS. There you will read about different Formula 1 topics. Of course always in connection with Formula 1 modelcars.

Seit 45 Jahren beschäftige ich mich mit der Formel 1. Und im Speziellen mit F1-Modellautos. Da ist es an der Zeit, mein Wissen und die Vielfalt auf diesem Gebiet zu teilen. Angefangen hat meine Sammelleidenschaft in den Siebzigerjahren. Als Modellautos noch Spielzeug war. Und man für wenig Geld Dinky Toys aus den Fünfzigern auf Flohmärkten erstehen konnte. Der Begriff «Sammlermodell» war noch nicht geboren. Einige Hersteller von «White Metal Kits» hatten zwar eine Ahnung, wohin die Reise gehen könnte. Aber ihre Mittel waren bescheiden. Die Umsetzung, handgefertigte Modelle zum Industriepreis herzustellen, gelang erst Ende der Achtziger-, Anfang der Neunziger. Beide Sammelgebiete, ob Spielzeug oder maßstabgetreues Modell, haben ihren Reiz. Beiden habe ich mich die letzten Jahrzehnte intensiv gewidmet. Auf dieser Seite sollen beide ausführlich in Wort und Bild beschrieben werden.

Weil nicht nur der Ursprung der Formel 1 in Großbritannien liegt, sondern auch viele der ersten Modelle von dort kamen, habe ich mich entschlossen, f1modelcars.com zweisprachig anzubieten. Dass ich nicht englischer Muttersprache bin, mag man mir an der einen oder anderen Stelle verzeihen. Für Verbesserungsvorschläge bin ich immer offen. Ziel ist es, ein «Wikipedia für Formel-1-Modellautos» aufzubauen. Das braucht Zeit. Und Ihre Mithilfe. Deshalb freue ich mich auf Ihren Input. Vor allem im Kapitel MANUFACTURER. Das ist nach Ländern respektive Kontinenten sortiert und wird laufend erweitert. Ziel ist es, alle Hersteller von Formel-1-Miniaturen in Wort und Bild zu erfassen. Von A wie Anguplas bis Z wie Zylmex.

Im zweiten Untermenü bei den NEW ITEMS werden Neuheiten vorgestellt; grösstenteils von Minichamps und Spark. Das dritte Untermenü nennt sich BLOGS. Hier werden in unregelmäßigen Abständen F1-Themen aufgearbeitet. Natürlich immer im Zusammenhang mit F1-Modellautos.
