ATS-BMW D7 1:43 by Spark
The ATS-BMW D7 was designed by Gustav Brunner and was actually a surprisingly fast car. The only problem was reliability. Manfred Winkelhock, who represented Günter Schmid's racing team as driver number 1 in the first eleven races, only saw the chequered flag twice (in eighth place). In Austria, ATS then entered a second D7 for rookie Gerhard Berger. In only his second race in Monza, Berger finished sixth and scored points. However, there were no constructors' points because ATS had only entered one car at the beginning of the season. At the end of the year, Schmid, fed up with politics in F1, pulled out of Formula 1 and withdrew from his racing team. My opinion: «The D7 from the 1984 Austrian GP comes from Spark and was released in the Gold Edition by Raceland. The model is limited to 400 pieces and is a real eye-catcher. Typical for the vintage 84 are the massive rear spoilers with the additional wings. Spark has perfectly reproduced these, including the stiffening struts used at the time. Berger's blue helmet, which was only used in these colours in 1984, is also well done.» f1modelcars rating: ✰✰✰
Der ATS-BMW D7 von 1984 stammte aus der Feder von Gustav Brunner und war eigentlich ein überraschend schnelles Auto. Nur mit der Zuverlässigkeit haperte es. Und zwar gewaltig. Manfred Winkelhock, der den Rennstall von Günter Schmid in den ersten elf Rennen als Fahrer Nummer 1 vertrat, sah nur zwei Mal (als Achter) die Zielflagge. In Österreich setzte ATS dann einen zweiten D7 für Debütant Gerhard Berger ein. Der vermochte in seinem erst zweiten Rennen in Monza als Sechster in die Punkte zu fahren. Konstrukteurszähler gab es dafür aber keine, weil ATS zu Beginn der Saison nur einen Wagen gemeldet hatte. Am Ende des Jahres zog Schmid von der Formel 1 genervt die Reissleine und stieg mit seinem Rennstall aus. Meine Meinung: «Der D7 vom GP Österreich 1984 stammt von Spark und ist in der Gold Edition von Raceland erschienen. Das Modell ist auf 400 Stück limitiert und ist ein wahrer Hingucker. Typisch für den Jahrgang 84 sind die wuchtigen Heckspoiler mit den Zusatzflügeln. Diese hat Spark inklusive den damals verwendeten Versteifungsstreben perfekt nachgebildet. Gelungen ist auch der blaue Helm von Berger, der in diesen Farben nur 1984 zum Einsatz kam.» f1modelcars rating: ✰✰✰
BWT Alpine A522 Australian GP 1:43 by Minichamps
The Alpine F1 Team finished fourth in the 2022 World Championship against McLaren & Co. thanks to regular top-10 finishes and a strong driver pairing (Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon). The team made negative headlines with the posse surrounding newcomer Oscar Piastri, who was announced as Alonso's replacement although he had already signed with direct opponent McLaren... On the other hand, the team has provided a change of colour. The first two races were contested completely in pink as a genuflection to the new main sponsor BWT. At the third Grand Prix in Australia that the familiar Alpine blue returned in combination with the BWT pink. My opinion: «The fact that a team presents two different liveries for a sponsor and then also uses them is rather unusual and reminiscent of the good old days. I liked this variety. As a model car collector, it adds some colour to the shelf. And Minichamps has done a fantastic job in painting the two versions. Although I have to say that I like the model shown here in blue and pink better. But as we all know, that's a matter of taste.» f1modelcars rating: ✰✰✰
Das Alpine F1 Team hat sich 2022 dank regelmässigen Top-10-Platzierungen und einer starken Fahrerpaarung (Fernando Alonso und Esteban Ocon) als WM-Vierter gegen McLaren & Co. durchgesetzt. Negative Schlagzeilen machte das Team mit der Posse um Neuzugang Oscar Piastri, der als Ersatz für Alonso verkündet wurde, obwohl er bereits bei der Konkurrenz unterschrieben hatte (McLaren)... Dafür hat das Team farblich für Abwechslung gesorgt. Die ersten beiden Rennen bestritt man als Kniefall vor dem neuen Hauptsponsor BWT komplett in Rosa. Erst ab dem dritten Grand Prix Australien kehrte das bekannte Alpine-Blau in Kombination mit dem BWT-Rosa zurück. Meine Meinung: «Dass ein Team für einen Sponsor zwei unterschiedliche Lackierungen präsentiert und diese dann auch einsetzt, ist eher ungewöhnlich und erinnert an die guten alten Zeiten. Mir hat diese Abwechslung gut gefallen. Als Modellautosammler bringt das Farbe ins Regal. Und Minichamps hat die beiden Versionen farblich auch fantastisch umgesetzt. Obwohl ich sagen muss, dass mir das hier gezeigte Modell in blau und rosa besser gefällt. Aber das ist bekanntlich Geschmacksache.» f1modelcars rating: ✰✰✰
